Tomorrow Garden
Roots
Tomorrow Gardens tap deep into the roots of community and provide
many well-earned benefits for our youth
and serve as perfect settings for conversations between teacher and
student, parent and child, or friend to friend.
The gardens serve as sanctuaries for students to reflect, relax,
and recharge.
Additionally,
The
Tomorrow Gardens are a symbol of the most vital issues of our
children's time; the environment and their future. The
central theme of the garden is "Healthy Choices Today Grow Into The
Dreams of Tomorrow."
When one sits on a bench
underneath the shade of a native tree
in a Tomorrow Garden utilizing sustainable elements, recycled
materials, and drought tolerant plants, their attention is
immediately drawn to the environment. The garden invites them
to question, "What can I personally do to help protect and restore
the environment for not only my dreams, but for the future dreams of
all?"
A
student who further contemplates the Tomorrow Gardens' theme
eventually realizes that all choices they make today have the
ability to influence the quality of their future. The Tomorrow
Garden is their garden, it is a place for them to consider how they
feel
about their life issues.
What should I consider when making choices regarding nutrition,
money, my education, my family, my friends? The invitation to the
young mind is to dream about what they want to grow and have bear
fruit in their life...in their garden.
Jeff Zotara & Michael
Austin,
creators of the Tomorrow Garden movement, urge
today's youth to become architects of a future filled with the
radiant colors of hope.
